Beginning What a Character!

Drawing, Cartooning and Comic Book Writing

Students in this class will learn basic drawing and comic book layout skills that will help them create comic art. They will learn to draw figures, tell stories and create their own world on paper! Students will stretch themselves visually by transforming simple shapes into unique characters through various drawing techniques. Once they’re confident with the basics, we'll throw out the rules and have FUN creating original cartoon people and animals, as well as make greeting cards and comic/story books. While this is an art class there is strong crossover into language arts as writing and spelling basics will be continuously covered too. The goal of the class is to give students a safe and fun environment to learn and express themselves through comic and storybook art.
