Mixed Media
GRADES 6TH -12TH
Mixed Media will present basic collage methods and ideas. Collage is a medium that bridges aspects of drawing, painting, sculpture, textiles, photography, and print. It is as much a way of thinking as of making. This class will present methods of cutting apart and connecting, collecting and arranging, gluing, attaching, and building materials into pictorial images and designs. Issues of continuity and discontinuity will be considered, as within the fragmented space of pictures, materials, identities, and information in contemporary life. Class time will include lectures that present work by modern and contemporary artists, technical demonstrations, and time to work on projects that explore technical processes and concepts presented.
